This is a question I have suffered with trying to answer for years!! I have always been determined to stay at home with my kids and raise them myself. I have always been against paying someone else to raise my kids while I work and miss all of their "first" and them growing up. For some reason I have not been able thus far to find the perfect solution and feel like I have been able to help supplement the income and still be able to be a full time mom. Maybe I don't have my priorities in line. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be. But I am a person that believes if you want something bad enough it was meant to be you just have to figure out how to make it happen and trust that it will happen. So far every time I think I have it figured out I always end up taking a small part time job to "make some extra money". Well this time I am gonna try a different approach. I have decided that I am going to put all of these money saving tips I have been reading about and all of these life organizing ideas into play and see how that helps.... I plan to keep all of my trial and errors and my progress posted here so that hopefully someone that is struggling with the same problems can be helped and/or inspired by posts. Please feel free to post your suggestions, advice, and support.
It has been awhile since my last post and I think I am well over due for a FREE PATTERN!! In 2013 by far hands down my most popular hat was the "Ninja Turtle". I couldn't make them fast enough! It seemed that everyone wanted one and in every size from newborn to adult. I used my favorite basic hat pattern that is my go to foundation for most all of my hats. If you don't have a favorite hat pattern you can find some really great ones on Etsy. The one I use is a simple double crochet beanie hat pattern. Now for the fun pat.... How do I make go from a basic beanie to a Ninja Turtle? Well it is actually quite simple... First I make the first few rows of the hat in a kinda sage green (like a turtle) then I put a strip of about 4 rows in what ever color the customer wanted depending on which Turtle they wanted it to be. For example I would use red, blue, orange, or purple. After completing the 4 color rows (that make the "eye mask") I do 4 more rows of green....
Maybe you should try selling your items online there are plenty of online places to sell crafts. It's just a thought, I to am struggling with being able to stay home, except for me it's because of physical reasons. I am not going to give up just yet I will keep on tying and don't give up hope it will happen for the both of us in do time.
ReplyDeleteIf you are planning on selling something, then it has to be something that people want, something they just cannot live without really, in order for it to be a long lasting venture. I knew a woman who wanted to stay at home with her children and she did so by starting an in-home daycare. That is not something I would be interested in doing. My cousin managed by becoming a seamstress since it was something she had done since childhood. It seems that the work at home market is either a scam, requires quiet, or just does not last. Let me know how it works out for you by commenting to this thread as I am interested in earning money without the need to punch a clock.
